I believe the Town Manager role is a steward of culture, someone who reinforces values by how decisions are made, teams are led and challenges are met. 

My leadership is grounded in a clear set of commitments: 

  • to cultivate trust, 
  • deliver operational excellence, and 
  • uphold the integrity of local government through consistent, transparent and responsive management. 

I lead with integrity. I listen actively and I remain relentlessly committed to ensuring the public can count on their government to work, and to care.

On my very first day as Town Manager here in Great Barrington, my top priority was to work alongside our department leaders to intentionally establish a shared foundation for how we lead, collaborate, and serve the community. Before setting new goals or initiatives, it was important to pause and ensure we had a common understanding of what we value, how we work, and what we should expect from one another as a municipal organization.

Through facilitated conversations with department leadership, together we identified and affirmed a set of Organizational Shared Commitments outlining our collective values, ways of working, attitudes, and standards of behavior. This process created a clear baseline for how decisions are made, how challenges are approached, and how we interact with one another and with the public. These commitments serve as our organizational “ground zero,” providing consistency, clarity, and accountability across all Town departments

By establishing this foundation early, your municipal organization will work together to strengthen trust, reinforce integrity, and support a culture where collaboration and excellence are the standard... not the exception.
